Chair Rehab

CHAIR Re-hab The idea popped into my head while staring at my black kitchen chairs and their stained off-white cushions. I thought to myself, these could be better. I could make these better. They’ve got the right shape -the shape of fancy wooden chairs that I see in magazines. I thought that by just stripping the black paint off of these wooden chairs, I would get the chairs I wanted on the cheap and have a fun DIY project in the process. Which leads to my first disclaimer, if you are planning on stripping and re-staining anything for the first time, price EVERYTHING out. I did not and probably could have bought a whole new set of chairs for the same price I spent on all of the tools and materials. Second disclaimer is research then research then research again. I only watched a few youtube videos and felt ready to go (I was not). That said, I did learn a lot and would probably do a much better job next time. Which leads me to this post. There are so many things that would have bee...

Let's Take This Outside.

Growing up in southern California, I have always enjoyed outdoor spaces. This probably stems from the fact that there are only a handful of days said outdoor spaces are off limits. You could hardly walk around -and that was her personality, she just liked to keep stuff, no matter its condition -which made her happy, so all the power to her! I, on the other hand, can't stand too much stuff. For me, it's all about space. So, in my search to find the ideal p...

While I was living abroad, I kept up a blog on my travels. The second I got back, however, that blog got pushed aside in a very dark internet corner. Even though I really loved blogging and sharing all the new things I was seeing and experiencing, being back home made a switch go off in my brain, and for a while I was convinced that nothing I was doing now was note worthy. When I finally came around to realizing that everyday life back home was actually pretty cool too, I thought to myself "Yea..but I don't have a 'thing'". There are so many blogs (that I love) where the 'thing' is cooking, or re-purposing furniture, or interior design, and truth be told I do not have the attention span to dedicate myself to one thing. Then I thought, maybe I don't have to. Maybe I can just have a blog that takes a look at all 'things' I love. Enter Rotating Fascinations. This is a blog about all the random beautiful things I find, do or attempt, in no pa...
